Despite challenges circumstances across the country, storage and logistics operator, Hupfer has said it will remain operational in a bid to support the NHS and key industries.
As the effect of the COVID-19 pandemic continues to take its toll, numerous equipment manufacturers and suppliers are unfortunately closing their factory doors as they are unable to remain operational due to imposed lockdowns across the UK and Europe.
However, Hupfer is pleased to remain fully-operational and able to serve customers in both the UK and Germany. The company has key staff operating its factory in Coesfeld and skeleton staff working in the UK, both from home and at the Knowsley head office.
Hupfer’s Head of Business Development, Anthony Pettit, said: “Those who have visited our factory in Coesfeld, Germany, will know how important automation is to its daily operation. Over the years, Hupfer has significantly invested in robotic technology, to ensure that the factory is extremely efficient and able to operate with minimal staff, this has been vital to successful operation during this pandemic.”
With a range of automation tools on the factory floor, some of which have been developed by the Hupfer team in Germany, it allows staff to follow self-isolation and safe distancing rules much more strictly. This has also been coupled with Germany’s efficient Coronavirus testing methods which has allowed staff to get back to work much more quickly.
“Our key aim at the moment is to ensure all of our staff are fully looked after and remaining safe,” said Anthony. “But we are so pleased that we are able to still operate for those industries that need us and are aiming to offer shorter lead times for pressured sectors such as the NHS and care homes.”
Hygiene and safety standards are of paramount importance for Hupfer, and it’s subsidiary, Trak, which is also still in operation with skeleton staff producing its leading counters and conveyors from the Liverpool-based factory.
Anthony said: “Hupfer offers a wide range of essential equipment which is ideal for NHS hospitals, care homes and other key sectors which are under pressure during this time. These products include Handwash Basins, Soap Dispensers, Sterile Goods Baskets and much more, which are all vital to maintaining the strictest of hygiene standards for the safety of staff and patients.”
Anthony and other Trak and Hupfer key staff who are working from home, are currently encouraging virtual meetings via video conferencing platform, Go To Meeting, and are emphasising the importance of communication during this time.
